Al Bahr al Ahmar is one of the governorates of Egypt. It is in the south-east of the country, between the Nile and the Red Sea. Its Arabic names literally means The Red Sea. It covers a geographical area of 203,685 km² and a 2004 estimated population of about 183 thousand. It has an international border with Sudan. Its capital is Al Ghardaqeh (Hurgada). |
